Was a bit annoyed at the road being closed due to "surface water"

Then found this picture and understood why it was closed

Oaft - that does indeed look bad.

Even the MX5 has it's roof up.

It seemed to rain here non stop for about 18 hours, loads of roads were blocked.

And what were we met with yesterday? A glorious sunny day.

I got caught in it on Thursday evening.

Ayr to Glasgow took 3.5 hours.
It really was crazy how much water there was everywhere.

Thankfully I had the Impreza and some company to keep morale up and help with route planning.

Bloody Hell!!!

I wonder if the flood defences implemented after the last disaster in Kilmarnock/Crookedholm has something to do with this?

I remember we had a no of cars towed in, filled with filthy water at the time, not a pretty site sadly.

Juvenile is finding out that you can do full throttle upshift's with the command shift function of your autobox. There is a very upset focus driver who had 2.8 tons get away from him off a roundabout in Airdrie tonight. hehe

I was up the A77 today, it appears a lot of emergency ditches were dug and existing ones were dug up.

Dare I say this may be a consequence of the road being 'maintained' by a private firm? I can never remember it flooding before twice like this in one year.

I would tend to think things would be better with a private firm.

Private firm have a contract with the Council or whoever. They will lean on them heavily, possible fines etc if fail to upkeep.

Whereas the roads that are in the Councils' control, well, they are answerable to no one!!

hmm, what about private firms maximising profit?
