What to do in Glasgow?
Discussion
I have a training course on the 28th Feb in Glasgow. Getting the train from Aberdeen down in the morning with the course happening in the afternoon at the BBC.
The wife is getting the train down too after work on Thursday so i'm looking for somewhere to go for drinks then a meal on Thursday night and then things to do on the friday as we have taken the day off work.
I know Edinburgh reasonably well, but have never spent a decent amount of time in Glasgow so can anyone recommend somewhere for food on Thursday night and then how can we fill our day on Friday? We won't have a car so will be relying on public transport if it is anything out of Glasgow. Thoughts?
Cheers!

Unless you're there for the cars. Cross the river from the BBC and you’ll be around the West End. There are many, many good bars and restaurants in that neck of the woods. Look up places like Velvet Elvis, Stravaigin, Left Bank, Hanoi Bike Shop, Ubiquitous Chip, Two Fat Ladies … You’ll be fine.
If you’d rather experience what the city centre has to offer, concentrate on the Merchant City area for the best food and drink.

So i'm pretty central with my training course at the BBC then? That should things a lot easier.
Not central, no. BBC Scotland are at Pacific Quay (we designed the place, hope you like it!) which is pretty much a new build industrial estate over the river from the city centre. You’re next to the Science Centre and IMAX cinema, but that’s about all. If you cross the river you find yourself between the city centre and West End, but nearer the West. Both within walking distance (15 mins or so, probably) but if you don’t have a local guide you may as well grab a taxi.mazdajason said:

You walk in the main hall and there is a Supermarine Spitfire hanging from the ceiling!
Enjoy!

A short stagger over the river takes you to la Rotunda. Up on Argyle Street at Finnieston there is Lamora which is great value family run eaterie. One I haven't yet tried is Panevino also on Argyle St in Finnieston which apparently has a stunning range of wines you can have by the glass and eats too.
Other than that one of my faves is Ingram Wynd in Merchant City
