Smoke / Boost leak testing in Aberdeen
Discussion
I'm assuming it's a diesel? Any MOT station can do a smoke test.
If you have boost issue why don't you take it to someone who can plug in diagnostic equipment and read off the actual values from the boost pressure sensor and tell you if boost pressure is down. Is the MiL light on to tell you there's a boost issue??

You misunderstand, what the OP is describing is a process whereby the charge pipes are pressurised and smoke added in order that any boost leaks can be identified. It can be useful as some leaks only manifest themselves when the system is under pressure and are hard to spot with a static visual inspection. If you have boost issue why don't you take it to someone who can plug in diagnostic equipment and read off the actual values from the boost pressure sensor and tell you if boost pressure is down. All that said, I'm unaware of anyone who has this kit. I made a rather Heath Robinson device to pressure test an intercooler, but without the smoke element.
