Usually with my car history, the mot time is a dreaded affair, a piece of paper to show that my car needs yet more work and is going to give me another wallet kicking.

In a partial premptive strike, on saturday i got new front lower arms and new steering arms fitted to the car, all done on the driveway by a indy doing a homer. He knows the D3/D4 inside out and make short work of changing the arms, armed with an angle grinder as the bolts rust in place and i had new bolts to go on.

I did buy the car knowing these parts would need to be done as they were last years advisories and 10k of driving had seen them fit for the bin.

One wheel alignment later and the disco was ready for it. You need to plug them into a computer to tell it, it's to go into "tolerance" mode so it can get adjusted, because the steering was all out of shape, going over to the Garage in Motherwell, it threw it's toys out the pram. HDC and special programes went offline and the suspension self lowered to the bump stops. Was fine once it got aligned though.

It passed today's mot with no advisories. First car to ever do so, and it continues to prove people wrong by being the most reliable car i've ever owned. Now sitting on 106,540 miles and showing no signs that it had covered that many miles.

Good job as at 22.8mpg it's giving the wallet a kicking on fuel use.. hehe

Now i can budget for my RRS Tdv8 Brembo brake upgrade and a remap.. biggrin

Boring........ sleep

Clio and Bucket had character together with incredible ability to entertain us via your on-going monthly tales of costs incurred. You have purchased nothing more than a domestic appliance. hehewink

They all worked again once the alignment was sorted, was just out the cars comfort zone for the systems.

I'm quite happy with it being a domestic appliance. It's cheaper this way, more cash for the modifications that it needs.

Much more importantly, any chance of an up to date pic of Alfie?

For those who don't know, Alfie is NOT a guide dog for the blind. AJM chooses that hair style and colour matching clothes and has perfect vision.

Kenny, I've no idea what you're talking about...

Pricing up the RRS brembo calipers, disc's and pad's.
4 pot stoppers will be a nice upgrade and as far as I know, only 1 other disco 3 is running this braking combo.

The remap will take it from 190bhp and 325lb ft of torque to about 230bhp and about 400ish lb ft of torque.

And your insurance from...........

Remaps can be good if done in moderation!

it isn't a sports car and never will be. If want one buy one! if Syd can get one of his woofers out in the F40 then am sure Alfie would be good in a £1000 MX5

Remap will be bought from a long standing sponser on Disco3.co.uk
Plenty on there have the companies remap and report no issues with it and good customer service.

Just want a bit more urge from it, i don't intend to throw it about as it will make a very large hole in a hedge (which i'll drive back through... hehe )

Brakes are getting done first though, the map is way later in this year/next year. smile
