Biker taking the slip from M9 to M9 spur, it's a pretty long and tight 270 degree bend, came off the bike and slid into the armco. A hell of a lot of blood, not a nice sight at all. Bikers, stay safe. frown

TBH I knew it as soon as I saw her. Gutted, thoughts to your family and friends.

frown Aw no. That M9 spur has always been a place for accidents! Understandable for a biker with the dregree of a turn, can only assume you would have to lean for quite a while. Wouldn't help if your inexperienced either

I don't know. When I stopped her partner was coming walking back, he didn't seem aware of the seriousness of it, he was about 400 yards up the road by the time he stopped. Spoke to him briefly to pre-warn him a bit but didn't catch his accent.

My guess would be tourists, both bikes had a bit of luggage.

I wouldn't worry about asking around Paul, I'm sure people would rather a friend knows they're ok instead of having you sitting wondering.

How fast would you have to be going to come off there?

The 30 limit is a bit extreme.

I suppose a tiny loss of balance or slippery patch could unsettle the bike on such a long corner and before you know it, you're off?

Even at low speeds.

It's been a while since I've been round the turn but it's got some positive camber but is quite tight.

Oh no, I knew I recognised that face.

I don't know her, but I spoke to her every time I filled up, usually when I was going up north for the weekend on Fridays. More than just an "alright" too, would usually have a quick blether about something. We must've both been the sort to talk to anyone, really.

Who's to say it was rider error? Puncture or mechanical failure on that turn would be catastrophic. Only one winnor with human vs ARMCO regardless of speed.

I don't think there's any need to turn this into a pissing match.

I was merely clarifying my position, hardly a pissing match.
