Any particular reason you want a fiesta?

Can make just about anything fit with a grinder, a welder and some inclination.

You planning to do the swap yourself?

Zetec CVH hybrids are popular "conversions". Easier to mate a 1.8 zetec block than a 2.0 I believe, something to do with oil flow iirc, but all to a cvh head. Mayb a 1.8 zvh turbo? They didn't run fuel injection mind so fuel tank adaptation needed too.

when i got my licence back oli im finding it hard to insure anything so looking to do something old and possibly to play around with and i saw a mk2 fiesta turbo and liked the idea of it plus theres a few going cheap just now.

i was contemplating a series 2 escort turbo engine or a 1.7 puma engine possibly supercharged just some ideas to throw around

If insurance is an issue, get a bigger engined, low insurance group car and strip the living daylights out of it.

You'll struggle to insure a modified car that has performance mods on it.

Big engine, light car. It'll be quick, cheap and reliable.

Many years ago....I owned 2 mk1 XR2s. They were great wee cars - the 1.6 crossflow was/is a tough little engine and the handling was superb. It could could give many other hot hatches a run for their money on the twistys. The reclining front seats were great as well.....

I saw a cracking looking mk1 Supersport at the forth bridge the other day - took me right back - happy days...

How about rover 25/MG ZR and drop ZT V6 under bonnet if you are brave?

wouldnt say brave as more "stupid" i had a fiat bravo hgt with the intention of buying a 20v turbo coupe to put the engine in the bravo but that went south quickly. i hate rovers full stop the engines are just too soft i think.

Whatever you do make sure you buy the shell/car from england. From experience and other peoples experience they are alot less rusty down south. Roads are gritted less.
