Mercedes owners near Stonehaven (epic photo opportunity)
Discussion
Mercedes Benz Edinburgh are running a competition where you have to take a picture of a Mercedes next to a local landmark and I'm going to take part.
I have someone who might be able to let me use their matt black C63 AMG for the picture however he lives about 35 miles away and I think he's quite busy, so it might not be convenient for him to drive through to Stonehaven for it.
I have been granted access to the road which leads down to Dunnottar Castle and I have a fairly awesome idea in my head. I just need to make sure I have an appropriately impressive/cool car for the picture.
Is there anyone with a nice Mercedes (preferably an AMG or something else which is quite appealing to the eye) who stays in or around Stonehaven who would be interested in letting me use their car if the C63 owner can't manage?
No dates have been arranged yet, but I would like to organise it within the next couple of weeks.
Thank you

I'm picking up a new (to me) SLS gullwing on Friday, and might be up for the pic if you want. I'm in Edinburgh, but need to be in Aberdeen next week or the week after, and could arrange.
In ascending order of importance it depends on:what time of day; how long would you need; what if weather isn't any good; and is there any danger of my car falling off a cliff..?
Pm if you want.

Was it on here seen some cracking photos of the castle recently....only thing missing was a merc
Yeah, they were my pictures of the castle. The only reason I've been granted access to the road leading to the castle is because I let them use my image for a press release about the 8th wonder of the world competition. My plan is to incorporate my landscape photography skills, and my car photography skills to create something awesome.
I took these shots of this 360 with my rig at the weekend, and I want to do something similar with the Merc on the Dunnottar Castle road. The Merc will be driving away from the castle with a couple of people in kilts chasing it.

I went up to the castle yesterday evening for a test shoot with my mates Saab* and I've created a very quick and rough mock up of how the finished product might look.

Just thought some might like to see what I was aiming for...

- the smoke/dust from the rear wheels is simply because it will be getting replaced with a Mercedes.
You no doubt have some good skills with a camera but that shot really doesn't work for me. You can barely see the castle also. Not keen on the light paths from the headlights or the birds in the background. Although undoubtedly would look better with a mean and moody AMG.
Also the 'speed' effect looks strange as the car is not in line with road, looks like its just come up the cliff.
I would use the photo of the castle in your previous post as your background, the merc front on but slightly sideways, rear suspension compressed, tyres tearing into the ground, dust and stones everywhere as he driver boots it away from the pursuing kilted warriors, slight confident grin on the driver's face
But thats just my opinion of course! :-)

As I said above the picture, that is just a very quick and rough mock up of how it might look. The purpose of that shot was mainly to test the road surface, see how much distance the car could travel with the rig attached without the castle getting too blurred and to see how prominent the castle is when using the 10mm lens.
When I got home and started messing about with the shot I realised I would be better off using the rig to capture the rotation of the rear wheels, but to have a static background (and maybe very slight movement to the front wheels) to create the getaway shot, because as you say, with the rolling shot like that, it looks like it's just come up the cliff.
I appreciate you taking your time to comment though
Since we're both thinking along the same lines I'm confident that the finished product will be more to everyone's liking
In addition to the getaway shot, I'll also take a few more conventional pictures of the car.
