A77 / M77 road surface
Discussion
Just back from a wee trip down to Ayr tonight to let the dog have a good run and swim along the beach.
Was wondering if there are any regular A77 commuters on here? There was one stretch of road, I think maybe just coming out of the SPECS camera coming towards Glasgow, that I encountered what I can only describe as the noisiest road surface I have ever experienced.
Do I just have a bad set of tyres which made this worse or do regular commuters notice it as well? It was such a loud droan that I couldn't hear the radio over the noise.
Then just as the M77 starts the road surface is crumbling away all over the place - would expect to see that being resurfaced in the not too distant future!!

Yep, esp the bit up past New Farm, you think you've run a bearing/ buggered a tyre. Not surprising the M77 is crap, ever wonder where all the bottoming for the riding centre at Fenwick came from? Look on the bright side, at least you didnt get caught with all the ( mostly fake) specs cameras

Mostly awful.
There is a section between N'Mearns and Fenwick that sets my car into a motion not unlike being at sea.
The area just before the SPECS heading south is super noisy.
Some of the bumps just as you pass N'Mearns heading North are vicious and the big roundabout for E.K./N'Mearns is absolutely shocking. Some of those holes must be 10cm deep or more.

Thank goodness!!! So it's not just me that thinks the m77 has turned into a bomb site. It's a nightmare: new potholes are forming from the edges of previous repairs its a bloody joke. I have already had one bent alloy and I replaced it. Literally a week later I could feel another one bent and I have not bothered to replace it.
Trouble is does anyone know how to report the whole m77 from functions 5 through to function 8. There are lots and lots of poor surfaces and lots of potholes. I have been tempted to stop at each one and take pictures but far too risky!
Any ideas?

surface from bellfield rbt to fenwick is noisy as hell, like others thought I had a flat. the M77 proper used to be a lovely bit of smooth tarmac but now it is dodge the potholes. seems to be the way with a lot of new roads, the 3 towns bypass at saltcoats is always getting patched and it cant be 6 years old. seems like the top layers of tar are just peeling away in places, not thick enough in the 1st place??
I used to do Ayr > Glasgow and back every day. The M77 bit was fine back then but the A77 is/was shocking.
There is a large section with a massive rut along the middle that would suck you in as you were changing lanes.
The potholes aren't as annoying as the people who cruise in the outside lane at 50 though.
