I recall it being very rough las time I drove it too,but that was mainly on the climb up (coming from the north). The curves on the way into Aberfoyle were nice and smooth.A cracking road,esp if you get a clear run!
As Campbell says though, a bit hairy in the ice when closed (road closed sign on Aberfoyle side only)
That said it does state "not gritted in winter conditions" at the other end,much like the Applecross road.

They did some resurfacing on the Aberfoyle side a couple of years back - the rest they simply 'patch' with these bloody tar'n'gravel pressure blasters, which only conceals the potholes and then leaves gravel all around the turn-in points. Not good on the bike. We're now getting out of the best time of year for the Duke's Pass, as the stupid bloody tourist coaches will now be occupying all the road, all the time, until late September. A fair amount has been resurfaced but on some of the bends there is a lot of gravel (motorbiker so not happy with that)
in the car it would be good!

I remember a few years back having an amazing moment riding my motorbike over it towards Aberfoyle and being on a mission. There was a moment where I had a wee (thankfully controlled) power slide coming out of one of the corners and coming the other way at the same moment was a GT3 having a wee power slide himself. . . the two of us ridding/driving our chosen toys on a road designed for fun just happened to meet at the same time, both a little sideways. Loved that.
It's wide enough for larger car's if you pick the lines right.. 
Was at a SLROC off road day and had to use it to go back to Aberfoyle to drop a mate off in the car park as he was backshift.
Progress was made, even in H.M.S Disco..
Which was comical to try and would have been even funnier to watch i think.

Great road, can go faster over it in the wee Abarth than the Porsche (well feels it anyway) despite the brakes disappearing after a couple of miles, can just chuck it into the bends with the wee hatch backs!
