Did anyone watch this?

I'm not going to make comment right now until I understand the facts a bit more.

I did always wonder if the promises were too good to be true though as the man is a rascal.

My wife suggests that next time we manage to evict travelling people from the Bridge of Don area, someone should mention there's a nice carpark a few miles north.

I have no time for the man, but will admit that I'm bias by a good working relationship with one of the homeowners Trump has bullied and threatened and generally made his life a misery.

I've seen the generous offers Trump made in writing and they were insulting - unless you place a huge value on non-transferable golf club membership. The monetary amounts would certainly not have financed similar homes, although similar to a unique home in a unique location is hard to value.

In my defence, I called 'bullst' on Trump's promises long before I met this particular home owner. I did decide after meeting him however to participate in certain demonstrations, including the demonstration against compulsary purchase which Trump was pushing for to improve the view from his golf course.

Aye, he's a rascal. But.... Is he any bigger a rascal than the Fairmers plugging in to the subsidies for letting even more rascallish foreign energy companies build wind turbines(which we all know are NOT cost efficient) on their land?
Word in the hospitality industry is that weekends are seeing more uptake of rooms and increase in footfall in retail centres directly attributable to people flying in for a game of golf. Like my grasp of the buzzwords?
It's a pity he doesn't understand the nuances of keeping communities onside, tho' same could be said of some communities.
For me, what matters is, How many jobs are going to be created, and what opportunities will be on offer for meaningful careers within his project?
Would he even considered this particular location if it hadn't been for it's convenient access from Aberdeen Airport and Aberdeen City, which, 40 years ago were both dismal backwaters with dying local industries. Then along came Mr. Oil. "Aye" said oor worthy great and good, "a passing phase, it'll nae last". Thank God for the attitude of some in local business who did have the foresight to see where this could take us.
Why do some people have the viewpoint that the cosy wee existence they lead should be immune from any kind of change or progress, thereby denying others to benefit from new opportunities?
Och aye, I kint his Faither.rolleyes

Haven't watched it but had been meaning to. might have a nosey around on the Iplayer or whatever.

From the start I thought it was a bit odd deciding to build a golf course over someone's house without checking first that they would agree to move out.

I did have the pleasure of witnessing Donald Trump being booed by a stadium of 80,000 people earlier this year, he doesn't seem popular in the states either! laugh

He's full of st, typical yank, all hot air...ma mother mary loved scatland blah blah...build a course in stornaway if you feel that close to the place!

All his jobs talk was hot air...he was advertising for staff on gumtree not long ago at half a bob over minimum wage...not the sort of jobs we need in the area....given the countries benefits system

Does anyone else remember him actually claim that his golf course would replace the oil industry for the local area?

Can't see him affording my hourly rate even with what the half way hut charges.

Elmer Fudd?
Main reason for not wanting the wind turbines near his golf course was to avoid his comb-over getting blown back ......

Like nicksdad reply, I think trump is a plonker and I don't like the way he goes about his business, BUT I forgive him for that as I think the area could really benefit from his ventures, just like the bypass, a few small minded people stuck in their ways need to embrace change and get on with life.

Aberdeen in one.

The Bypass and Union Terrace Gardens are both good examples - trying to get anything done in Aberdeen is a nightmare.

No one is bothered that Trump has built a golf course or a nice hotel - they are more bothered about moaning.

Bypass is a no brainer...however what needs to be done is to try and get the people behind union square and trump to contribute greatly to the cause...before passing any plans wink

I want the Western Peripheral Bypass ...

... I want the new Don crossing ... but a bit further away from my hoose ...

... I don't want Union Terrace Gardens to be concreted over and turning into something which will look tatty and squalid within a decade ...

... but none of this is relevant or connected.

I would have welcomed Trump’s proposals if I believed that he would deliver on his promises.

I never thought he would, I don’t think he has and I don’t think he will.

When all this first came up, I reckoned the scam was that he’d lash up a pitch and putt course with a rotten B&B attached and while everyone argued about obligations being fulfilled he’d build and sell a heap of houses just before flouncing out of Scotland.

Looks like I was wrong and he’s pulled a flanker by now owning big money land acquired for not very much while stalling on further investment due to the red herring of the wind farm proposal.

Forget the other golf course – he still has to create these thousands of jobs that were the carrot he was dangling.

Scotland is being duped and the North East has been stitched up good and proper.

To those who think objections to Trump are typical Aberdonian short-sightedness ... I’d like to buy your houses for these nice magic beans I have here.

I know we disagreed on another subject matter but I agree with this entirely. The man is a charlattan.

How many jobs have been created in the N.E. from the windy things? Damn few. Theyr'e being maintained and erected by foreigners. This is a far bigger scam than what Trump has foisted on us, and we PAY for this st on our energy bills.

Get your priorities straight. What's more important : A lousy golf course or the complete dismantling of our energy security?

Top tip. Buy a diesel generator now. whistle

EF profit making when the brown-outs start, plus it's a good Scottish company.
