Tech help required. Removing pins from Ford multiplug

Chaps,

I currently have an overboosting issue on the cossie and I believe it's due to wiring to the boost control solenoid as I've fking changed the valve 3 times, stripped everything to check for leaks etc and it's all ok. So my thinking is that the solenoid is not getting a close signal from the ecu. I want to resolder the connections on the multiplug but can I get the little fking bd pins out!

Anyone know how to remove the pins on a plug pictured?

Hi John,

Check with ford if you can buy a new plug then just cut off the old one and solder on the new one.
The plugs are usually pretty well sealed to stop moisture getting into them.

Hi Al,

Interrnet seems to think i need a tool to get the pins out, you can kind of see it clipped in at the back but i don't have the tool so wondering if anyone has got them out without

I would have thought they would have spring out retaining "arms". The round type pins are normally removed using a round tube/sleeve pushed down over them. Not sure about those type but probably similar, you need to get both sides pushed flush together, if this makes sense.

Having enquired to the highest authority, there it a little tab on the pins that you can press in with a pin or a really thin screw driver. The solenoid clicks when given power, so check if it clicks with the ignition on and plugging it on and off.
