Hi guys,

if you weren't already aware, the Scottish Car Show is on in just over a week at the SECC in Glasgow.

Anybody else going?

Groupon were doing a cheap deal on tickets but that seems to have expired. Anybody found another source of discounted tickets? Being a tight-fisted Aberdonian by nature, I'd like to get my 2 tickets for a bit less than £30!

Sunday 21st July 10.00-16.30

I used to display my car at this show when it was at Ingliston and formerly "Fast & Modified". I'm afraid my car club wont be going again and have dubbed it "Chavved and Modified".

If its your kinda thing, I hope everyone has a great time.

Did speak to the rep for sports and saloons for this to try and tempt a few more people to come racing but according to SMRC it's too "modified" for them.

For what they are charging I don't think you can go wrong really.

The weather forecast is really good, there are 5 indoor halls and the clubs
have all the car park space to display.

I'm taking my MEV Rocket along as part of the MEV owners club. It cost £10 per car with a max of 20
per club.

I may be missing something with the modified and snobbery jibes but as a kit car owner it's just a
good place to show your handy work off and grab a nice greasy burger and chips on a nice day overlooking
the Clyde.

The show is what it is. The first few years I went, it was fine but the influx of "Eurostyle" cars with 4 different coloured wheels (with tyres that dont fit) and one rusty wing just doesn't do it for me. Dont get me wrong, I loved going round the Ford Owners Club and Vauxhall / Opel Owners club stands etc who had clearly taken many loving hours to prepare their cars for show. Unfortunately, too much tat has put me personally off.

Dont get me wrong, if you like your cars stereo to have more power than its engine.........its the place to be.

I had a space for the Tuscan on the top 50 but due to work commitments will miss it. Been before and it is what it is plenty of nice cars to look round and terry grant was doing his thing a few years ago so a good day out.

Hello.

Show hasn't been known as Fast and Modified since around 2006. This years Top 50 has around a 50/50 split of retro and classic to other styles and not a Saxo in sight. Yes a couple of Corsas are included plus a Fiesta but hopefully owner snobbery will be all but banished when visitors also see R8 Spyders, classic Rolls Royce, GTRs and the odd R34 around.

I've updated the main site and attraction pages so it gives a more complete run down of what's happening.

See some of you guys there.
