Ingliston Park & Ride.

Looking for some advice folks. Looking to take the family for a daytrip to Edinburgh tomorrow and was planning on using the Ingliston park and ride. My plans kind of hinge on being able to get a space here though.
Before I go and book tickets to the dungeon etc. and book a hotel for the night I need to be sure that after a 3 hour plus drive down I can reasonably expect to get a space.
Plan on getting down to Edinburgh just after 9 to catch the x12 service to Waterloo place and walking round to the dungeons. There is a booking space between 10-12.
I don't want to turn up at Ingliston and find it's full and have to drive to one of the other park and ride places and potentially miss my booking slot and maybe waste tickets.
I see that Ingliston has over 1000 spaces but it's right on the doorstep to the airport, so I expect it fills up quickly.
Was looking to return on the last bus to the Park and Ride and take the short trip to the Travelodge beside the airport for the evening before venturing back into Edinburgh for another day.
So as you can see, all my plans hinge on getting a space here!
Any experiences from anyone here or am I expecting too much?

Max 18 hours stay at the park and ride. It would be stupid that they allowed airport traffic in. They have about 3 or 4 separate car parks for the airport alone. Why not just park at the travelodge? Your staying there, i'm sure if you asked reception you'll be fine.

It's really too far from the airport to be attractive to air passengers - and there are no direct bus services between the P&R and the airport, so they would have to walk a fair bit.

In my experience, it's very very rarely full - even less so since they replaced the previous No 48 service with the 12/X12, which is less direct and takes longer, and so is less attractive (well it is to me, I don't use it any more for that reason).

I think you would have to be very very unlucky not to get a space at 9am...

definitely the best way to visit embra. the car park is quite big so can't see you not getting a place. took my five year old and his mate through last year and did the museums and stuff on return all they talked about was how cool the bus was!

are the trams running yet?

Thanks for the very speedy replies guys, much appreciated. Not being from around there, (up in Moray) I wasn't aware of the situation regarding airport traffic etc.
RDM, we're looking forward to it as well. Having looked at the lack of parking at most hotels, or limited availability with a charge on top put me off taking the chance of staying in the city itself.
Booked the hotel and dungeon tour just now. After that, plan on visiting the museums, grefriars and the castle. Looking to do camera obscura and dynamic earth as well.
Anything else to throw into that mix?!

My standard answer for this question is park up in Balgreen or Corstorphine and get the bus in. But since you're coming over the bridge from the north, I'd park up at Dalmeny train station and get the train to Edinburgh from there, it's only ten minutes.
