Custom seat rail

I have a Caterham 7 and unfortunately I am a bit of a lanky bugger which means that my head sticks out the top of the rollcage. I have a tillett which if I remove the rails that come with it and angle I can get a rather nifty seating position. The reason why this is question is in scotland rather than Caterham forum is...

If I wanted to get some kind of sloped seat rail for the car are there companies that can do this type of fabrication, would it be stupidly expensive and would it compromise safety? I am thinking given the existing rail is attached my 4 bolts to an incredibly thin floor then it probably isnt more unsafe.

Or should I just go foam/resin seat route?

Ive welded up a few custom seat rails in my time. As long as you do it properly and get good welds then there shouldnt be an issue.

Shouldn't be unsafe I wouldn't have thought? As long as the harnesses are attached to properly strengthened load bearing areas then the seat surely isn't doing much in the event of an accident?

Assuming you hit something head on. For all other accidents the seat plays a very important part

tbh the caterham seat is four bolts going through a wafer thin piece of metal. so custom rail is perhaps not ideal but standard way isn't exactly great.

Have you thougth about a lowered floor, or a custom bead seat, I made mine with 2 pack foam
