This is a full day event where you will be guaranteed at least 2 races (a pre-qualifying and a qualifying race). The day will include lunch and a prize winners’ presentation.

I did this a few years ago - I think it was the first time it had been run.
It was mooted (on here) that MSA licence holders should be careful about being involved with non MSA regulated competitions.
As far as I was concerned, it wasn't a competition, it was just an opportunity for some straight line V-max runs.
It turned out that it was run as a competition.
The running of the competition was very poorly explained by Messrs. Forrest and Shedden.
It was also run as a knock-out type competition so not everyone got the same number of runs.
That's fine but the starting was by street type "red, amber, green" lights. I waited until I saw green before I started but other cars were just going when they wanted. The organisers seemed happy with this.
In essence, I was in a competition I didn't expect to be in, it was poorly organised and I didn't get what I thought I'd paid for.
Part of the day was a tour of the control tower and an opportunity to drive a fire truck. These were better than the runway driving bit.
I can't remember what I paid but it was a few hundred quid plus a day off work. I know it was for a good cause but I think if it had been explained a bit better what I was buying, I might have thought twice.
I see from the words in the OP that it's maybe been described a bit better but I'd maybe just check you fully understand what it is before you part with your hard earned.
There were some interesting automobiles there which was nice but I didn't really connect with anybody like I do at motorsports events.

I was thinking of going this year after recieving the mail for it. Going to pass again this year, but i did mention it to someone with a fettled GT-R that'd probably hit around 230-240 on the mile.
Although in all fairness if I was racing, i would have lost eitherway, new R35 vs my ancient R32. (video made the R35 look like a rocket ship as it went through the FOV of the camera just as the lights went green)
I agree on the bit about the knockout part which was a bit of a let down, and not what i'd anticipated.
I'd have liked a few more goes rather than a competion, since the first run my launch control held back the revs at 5k on the first go, resulting a monster backfire as the revs shot to 8.5 as i managed to disenage it (past the bus, so at least people got entertainted), and second run was taken a bit more cautiously incase the car wasn't happy after firing balls of flame out the back.
Still dressing like a fireman, and going in the simulator machine was fun

Probably should add, That it is for a good cause and i'd do it again just this year is a no go for me, even if i am curious if the car will got faster when its not on Vredstein M+S tyres lol

It was for charity so I didn't mind paying it but I felt there was a lot of waiting around etc and therefore quite a lot of wasted time. You only get 2 runs (unless you win the races then you have the potential for more) so in essence I felt I was paying £300, taking a day off, driving a couple hundred miles to essentially have 2 runs down a runway.
It is for a good cause and for that reason I hope it does well, I just think the reality is there needs to be more time actually driving.

Im booked up, first time for me although ive heard of previous years events its the first time ive been able to do it. Even if it is just two runs I get its for a good cause and im throwing an additional sponsor sheet round the work for it too. Cant get anyone to take me up on a quid per mile per hour though lol

Yep did it today.Good fun.Too much faffing about. Too much wasted time. But good fun. Nice to see the old 'Vauxhall' ie Holden held its own for a cheap car. ITS a shame that individual entries cant be judged on their own as against sponsors like merc, however they are payin the sponsorship so hey...good coffee and buns..merc..
Had a great day no light jumping but pretty unorganised for its 4th year although that wasnt a huge issue except for the final. Timing lights at start died due to wind but overall the day went well I thought. Porsche 911 TT got robbed in the semis imo but there was no arguing with the aventador victor. Had a good day chatting with yourself 'breakdown' and 911 bob and the modded midnight purple r33 had severe bad luck to go out as early as he did but great day overall
I went to spectate. I can't disagree with the comments re. hanging about and poor organisation. It's hard to say who wasn't organised as though there were plenty of organisers rep's, lots of clipboards but there didn't seem to be anyone organising, too many Indians, no chiefs.
If there were outside influences causing delays they weren’t communicated to the observers and the drivers very well.
There was a good turnout of cars, Aventador, Gallardo, 911 (997) Turbo, RS6, RS4, Tuscan, R33, Ferrari FF, Ferrari 599 (broke on first take off), a gaggle of Merc AMG's, MG RV8, VXR8 etc.
I didn't take my car up the runway which is just as well, it would have been annihilated by all but the MG and perhaps the Tuscan, there was some serious metal there yesterday.
As a spectator it was a great day, the charity staff were really friendly and the Mercedes hospitality excellent.
Well done to Signature Aviation, Edinburgh Airport, Mercedes, the hospice, the burnt kids charity, the drivers and of course Iain Hutchinson for his thrilling fly-past in the Spitfire.
PS: The Porker was robbed by the alleged timing equipment failure on its run against the FF, the 911 was clearly quicker on the initial run, timing equipment wasn’t needed to see that! Nice couple that had the 911 too, we had a good natter and a laugh with them.
