Don't know if this is allowed but just a bit of advice on what to avoid if you're thinking about getting your car resprayed. There are some pics below of some of the solutions to 'my' bodywork...

Moderators note: no naming & shaming please.

There's a no name & shame policy - but that is below amateurish.

There's just nothing can be done with that, beyond starting again. It looks like he thinks 80 grit aluminium oxide paper = prep?

I hope you haven't paid him!

Wow....Heart breaking. I hope you never went for the cheapest of the quotes as that is ste. You may get a row just shortly though for shaming. Which is a shame actually as people need to know.

That is absolutely appalling. I hope you have some recourse against him.

He got the majority of the money for three reasons, first he threatened to take the car back away again if he wasn't paid, thirdly he wasn't getting all the money as car was returned without bonnet!!Then thirdly i was just so gutted, pissed off etc i just couldn't think straight.I've never been in the situation that i just wouldn't/couldn't pay for something and i didn't think you just didn't pay for something if you didn't want to,a bit naive i know but that's just the way it was.In answer to the other question that's the roof!!
Its strange when you read sites about recourse for things like this, first off the facts are a)•Goods have to be of 'satisfactory quality' - products must last a reasonable time and be free of defects",then i read " If you buy something that doesn't meet any of the conditions stated above, it's your right to demand your money back from the trader"Wish to hell i had just done what i wanted to do,punch him and keep my money lol.
Thing that really wound me up for some reason is he had the cheek to proudly stick on my chrome, chrome wheel trims, number plate light plinth etc.If he had spent more time on the prep and less pissin about with sticking on chrome to try and take my eyes away from the paintwork, then maybe we would have got somewhere!

What work did you try to have done? I just looked at his Facebook page and he seems to advertise himself as a smart repair type. Did he do the filler work under the paint?

He doesn't do smart repairs,he is 'thinking' about doing a course to learn it!Due to an arm injury i couldn't finish off the little prep that needed done, his first words when he saw the car was "It's better than i thought it would be".He just hadn't to flatten the reapirs i couldn't finish off,i gave him high build primer(which he didn't use but his brother decided to use it on something)The car was by no means a basket case when i gave it to him,it was relatively straight considering it's years!!He started prepping the car when i was there, then when car was out of my sight he done nothing basically(which is why pics look like they do)I'll put a pic up of the one door i had to 'my' standards before my arm gave up,just to show i 'sort of' knew what i was doing and didn't give him a car that would take forever to finish!
