Reccommend me a hotel to stay in and see the northern lights
Discussion
Best bet is Stornoway. Have a mate there that is always posting northern lights photos.
Don't expect them to be as vivid as photographers make them. They use a shutter that opens for several seconds to get enough light in for the photograph.

I've just returned from northern Norway/Finland in a 5 day quest to see them. We did, but not as amazing as we have before up there. If there's fairly high solar activity you'll see them but it's not really something you can plan for. Really needs to be last minute looking at cloud cover, moon cycle, (full moons spoil it) and activity (there's some good apps and facebook groups out there). Always best with no light pollution and a northerly viewpoint, Moray coast being ideal. In the UK you'll never see them overhead, only on the Northern horizon.
