The Hydro - Anyone been?

I was there a few weeks ago, thought it was excellent. I wasn't driving but seemingly the car park is linked to the venue, so no need to go back outside. I was impressed by the service at the bars too, all seemed very well organised. The sound in the main hall was fantastic.
You can take your drink in with you too (all ice cold when I went) Overall a big improvement on the secc.

fantastic new venue, been 3 times (alterbridge, stereophonics & arctic monkeys) and each gig has been brilliant. its purpose built for gigs, so the lay out works very well, compared to the big tin shed next door.
lots of bars, lots of staff, lots of toilets, plenty space to move around, can easily nip out to the toilet/ for a pint during a gig and get back to seats/ standing area very quickly.
the views seem to be great from all over, but as said the back row/ nosebleed seats look veyr high up, some very steep steps! but the sound and views from all around are awesome!
parking isnt cheap though, £7 to park at the venua itself, but i've been parking at the science centre and walking over its only £3 all day.

If your there early enough, you can get a space on the street in Minerva Way (Just be careful and make sure you park in a designated parking bay), and walk through the overpass.
It's a two minute walk.
In the Hydro, if i remember correctly, it's £4 a pint (Fosters or some other cooking lager) and £4.50 for a glass of wine. There are plenty of outlets so you don't have to queue for long.

Parking in the new multi-storey, as mentioned above, is expensive, also, I got there about an hour before the headliners were due on, left at the end of the gig and it took me over an hour (probably sat still for about 40 minutes) before I managed to get out the carpark.

I went to see Peter Gabriel, great sound, good view, although I was mostly looking at the big video screens. Plenty of food choices but nowhere to sit and eat, not even any high tables to put your drink on while you eat your fish supper or whatever. Got out very quickly because I was seated near the exit, into the car park and away but I would guess it would quickly become congested.
Not a patch on the Apollo though, even if it was a dank crumbling ruin of a place...

Funniest thing about Hydro and other similar venues is can you imagine what Apollo bouncers would have done to all the phone camera users that block your view :-)
