The Proclaimers

I have always been a fan of the Proclaimers since I first heard them way back in 1988 (I think). Were treated as a bit of a comedy act to start with but I can't help but think that in years to come, they will become even more of a cult group with lots of analysis on their clever lyrics etc.

Have seen them on TV over the festive period and it has made me think that outwith the music, you hear very little about them. No spreads on the Sunday papers and no hogging limelight at celeb gatherings.

I have this vision that they still live in a wee flat in Edinburgh, probably drive a Ford Focus or suchlike and drink at their local pub like they always have done......

Anyone any more informed? Are they actually living in a country estate with a fleet of exotica on the driveway?

I see one of them frequently in Colinton and the other around Causewayside in Edinburgh,saw one at the bus stop in Colinton on new years eve during the day.Can't say why but i have been in one of their homes and whilst lovely and nice area it had neighbours very close.

I'm a fan but have never seen them live. I once heard that they do small gigs locally as opposed to bigger gigs - is there any truth in this?

I used to be in the same primary school class as the son of one of them (never sure which one!) back when I lived near Holyrood.

I know someone who went on tour with them. The stories were very eye opening. Boys next door not!

Whichever one was married to a dwarf (if that isn't politically correct i'll apologise now) then he used to stay round the corner from me in a bungalow at Greenbank in Edinburgh years ago. Think it was Charlie (Proclaimer, not the dwarf).

I think the extent of Jimmy's outrageous behaviour was being a motorcycle enthusiast in his early days. An interviewer once asked if he was excited at getting some award or another. "Och, I never get excited, lass", was Jimmy's reply.

I was dragged to the Usher Hall in Edinburgh by friends a few years ago as I wasn't a fan but it was a brilliant night, and I would love to go and see them again. I missed there film, and you can't hire DVDs/Blurays anymore as all the stores have shut, so if anyone has a copy let me know.
