Airport transfers-any recommendations

Friends(6 of them) need to go from E Lothian to Newcastle Airport early July,quite early(6am flight!)
1 way car hire seems to be about £300!Taxi £290! I cant find any airport transfer companies,so wondered if anyone has recommendations for the travel that are cheaper & reliable

your on the east coast line, get the train down to Newcastle then the metro or a taxi to the airport, easy!!

Some of the hotels near Newcastle Airport provide parking for free if you stay for one night. We're booked to stay at the Hilton Doubletree next to the terminal and got 15 days parking free with the overnight stay before our early morning flight.

I think the OP's friend is being fairly unrealistic here. Picking Haddington as the starting point, it's 100 miles to Newcastle airport, and approx 2hrs' travel time. The transport provider has to do double the distance, because they obviously have to get back. So to charge £300 for a 200 mile 4hr round trip in a vehicle that the transport provider has to buy, maintain, certify and insure, seems pretty reasonable. Especially given that the flight is at 6AM, which means an 04.30 arrival, 02.30 departure.

If you wanted me to drive you to Newcastle airport in the middle of the night, I'm fairly sure I'd be wanting £300 as well.
