More Aberdeen reminiscence - Bon Accord baths

I wondered if anyone had seen this piece on the BBC.

The video has some nice footage of the opening in 1940 (I'd never associated it with the war before).

Also a fleeting shot of the bombed Neptune Bar (mentioned here a few times before).

I swear I can smell it just looking at the pic.

We were speaking to some people recently about the Bon Accord baths.

My wife and them remember being taught to swim by "the cross eyed mannie".

Does that ring a bell with anyone?

When I was at Uni a flatmate of mine got a job at Bon Accord baths as an attendant. Scarred him for life!

Yes, he used to put a rope around your chest and drag you accross the shallow end.
