Wasn't sure which area to post this in but as it is area specific I'll try this one.

I've got a large dry barn (20mx10m) which I have allowed a local chap to rent for a few years but he is basically paying pennies. I gave him a very cheap deal as he did a lot of work on the doors and roof but It's renewal time and I've not idea what price to charge.

It does not have electricity but is secure and it's quite rural, 30 miles north of Aberdeen.

Can anyone who rents or has rented a similar sized barn for car storage etc give me a ball park figure on what I should ask for?
I've seen people looking for several hundred pounds a month which seems a lot.

Any advice would be great.

What does he use the barn for. If its a business a few hundred is more than fine. If its personal (non profit) charge enough to cover your upkeep on the barn.

It started out as a place to keep an old car and a few personal bits. However it's grown to include a lot of joinery things as he's a joiner.

not much help but I used to pay £400 a month for my unit which was just over 1000 sq/ft

but that did have leccy and running water which was a godsend.

i'd imagine a couple of hundred or thereabouts a month would be reasonable

I rent out my garage which is 20 miles out of aberdeen but more westerly, north is cheaper as less folk. I charge £350 pcm and could easyly get more but I have a good tennent. The garage is 32 foot by 22 foot. It does have elec supply though.

You're maybe looking at £400-500 a month.

I know somebody who stores a couple of rally cars in half a shed, the other half is used by somebody else with an amphicar, a jeep and a tonne of crap.

Their combined rent just outside of Edinburgh is about £300 a month.

It must be about 10m by 4m

Wow, thanks for all the replies. I thought the £200+ would be for rentals for businesses looking to used it frequently rather than just storage.

Any suggestions on where to advertise apart from Gumtree?

I'm looking for some dry storage for some of my cars, drop me a message if you decide to change tenants. Cheers

I would say worth 600 based on the size. I still get people wanting to rent mine a year or so after the gumtree advert. If current tennent moves out il be ramping the price up to £500 tbh.
