My wheels are in to get refurbished but the company is reticent about completing the job as they think they might break the sensors. Apparently nobody has the tool to deal with the sensors, they are £300 each to replace and each wheel has two sensors and even if they dont break them taking them apart they are worried about creating a good seal when the tyre and the wheel go back together. Has anyone dealt with this before or is my guy panicking?
I've done these before. As you say there are two on each wheel, although I think one may be a counter weight. They are pretty straight forward as long as you have the correct tool. I sourced it direct from porsche. From memory it was around £80 - £100. In addition I also ordered 8 new o'rings which were pennies in comparison, but would 100% replace when doing the work. Customer covered the cost and I gave him the tool away with him. If you're stuck I could try and dig out his details and see if he still has it, but must have been around 2 years ago now. I know he talked at the time of trying to sell it on to try and claw back some of the cost though.
As you can see I'm not on here much, don't even know how I found my way on here tonight, but will try and monitor over next few days if you want some more info.
