Hi Everyone,

Very long time lurker looking for advice on property in Aberdeen.

Like many before, I am moving to the city to continue with my profession. I have come across a property in Sheddocksley which I really like but I am not sure about the area. Can anyone let me know what I can expect in the area and if you would recommend it or not?

It's a bit of a tight schedule I have as I start work two weeks tomorrow and still do not have accommodation so panic mode is starting to set in

Cheers

Let's just say you'd be better aiming for somewhere South of the Lang Stracht and East of North Anderson Drive.

Oh dear really? Does anybody work in the property leasing business who may be able to help me out?

I have lived up in Westhill before but wanted something a little closer to town this time.

Reminds me of "Made of Stone" by the Stone Roses.

East of Andy drive? What's wrong with Seafield, Mannofield, Airyhall, Craigiebuckler etc.?

If you look at a map, I was suggesting that he avoid Sheddocklsley, Northfield, Mastrick, Cummings Park, Logie....

i.e. The North West corner that's divided by the Lang Stracht and North Anderson Drive. Sorry for the confusion.

Can anyone recommend any of the nice areas in Aberdeen? Doesn't have to be city, it can be further afield.

What about Peterculter? Found a nice one there.

The ones I mentioned are all nice. Peterculter is fine too, if you're looking a little further afield then Inverurie is nice, small town about 16 miles North-West, got its own shops etc.

I live in Seafield, thanks very much. Where do you live then, Rubislaw?

Opinions eh rolleyes according to values at least all very good areas of the city.

I'm Airyhall/Mannofield and I find it quite nice smile other than the lack of garage space but I'm working on that.

Another Vote for avoiding that NW corner.

Where are you going to be working because commuting can be a pain in the arse if you have certain home/office location combinations - for example, if you work on the south of the city, you really don't want to move somewhere like Inverurie, or if you work in Dyce, moving to Stonehaven would be a bad idea.

I know lots of people do that, but I'm sure they would all agree that travelling to and from work isn't fun!

^^ This, I live very central (near Westburn Park) and commuting to most places (Westhill, Bridge of Don, Altens/Tullos and City Centre) are all less than half an hour even on a bad day, Dyce however is a no, no, more than half an hour on a good day.
