Brick garage in ayrshire
Discussion
Looking to have a brick garage built (could be swayed by timber if I put up a wall behind it for privicy/protection.)
I have a single Joint garage at the moment (common wall with neighbour) but want to extend it back and to the side so its 1+1/2 size width and same on length. would be easiest to knock it down and damp proof neighbours wall then build a fresh structure.
I had one company come round and say they couldnt do it another who wanted £25k (welshes) and a hobo who never got back to me.
I would be happy to keep it a flat roof so I dont steal too much of the neighbours veiw.
My garden is huge so will also save on the lawnmower petrol lol.
Any contacts people could give would be great.
Budget £10K already has water pipes and elecy so easy enough to stick a few strip lights up.
Need to space so I can move an engine crane in and out of the front of my car and build an engine (well try)
Cheers

Difficult to comment without a picture, is it a Marley style garage, sharing the same roof? If you could , I would be tempted to knock down the existing structure, and if your garden is that big, stick it in the corner of the garden as big as you can. A low pitched roof would be better as well. £10k budget is well within reach, I built a 8.5x8.5m double about 8 years ago for less than that. The only tradesmen I used was a brickie and a plasterer, I put up the roof trusses and tiled it myself. I'm in ayrshire and can give you a set of plans easily enough.

about 20 years ago we got shot of a galvanised steel and asbestos roof garage and replaced it with a brick/breezeblock one. cost about 3k for the garage and a few hundred for the electrics. guy we used is retired but there is another builder i would reccomend, pat breen of breen roofing and building, he built a neighbours garage and it has stood the test of time well. website and contacts http://www.breen-roofing.co.uk/ i have known pat all my life and he is a good bloke, does a proper job, had re-roofed almost every church in north ayrshire. give him a phone or e-mail and say you found him via big alan fae ardrossan
