Vehicle inspection in Aberdeen.

I've seen a car for private sale in Aberdeen that I'm interested in. I'm based in Manchester.

It's an Audi S model (proper S, not S line). Value is between £10k and £15k. I don't trust the AA or RAC to do a thorough inspection. Does anyone up North have any experience of a decent outfit that could carry out an inspection and report back to me?

Very surprising to see someone outside Aberdeen looking to buy a car from Aberdeen.

Prices up here are usually over the top with Audi top of the list.

Sadly I can't help with an inspection, but if the Aberdeen car is cheap, I'd not expect too much.

There's only 6 or 7 of this variant on Autotrader at any one time. Big petrol engined so they're not really in demand. Private seller and he's dropped it by a grand. Low mileage for the year and full Audi service history so it sounds straight enough. The price is the lowest in Autotrader. I've been to see a very rough one local to me at £1500 more.

Return flights from Manchester to Aberdeen are £150 so might be worth the trip. Then if I decide to go for it, I can get a one way flight or train and have a long road trip back...

I've had a couple of S cars before and could point you in the direction of someone more specialist.

Aberdeen Audi? AA and RAC won't go up there so you won't get them to inspect even if you wanted to!

As it happens I bought a "S car" from there recently and yes they won't go up that far!

Looks nice enough but wouldn't want a wasted trip up there.

I have used them once before for an A3 and they were decent, knowing the usual pitfalls and issues etc so are more aware than most of VAG stuff.

Did you get sorted with someone to inspect the car for you?

I searched for over 6 months for the right one and eventually bought mine from Oscar Goldman. He has a really nice looking silver one in stock at the moment.
