Brake squeak

Hi guys, don't know if this is the right section to post but I am from Scotland so guess so.


Got a wee ford fiesta 59 plate.

Brakes squeaking like a bh so going to get some brake cleaner on it this weekend and grease the pads and pistons, first time ive done brakes like but its just the front ones so wanting to give it a bash, I have done other car jobs but just never brakes so at least halfway competent. will I need to get a clipper/piston rewind tool?, unsure whether the pistons will move if I take out the current pads to grease them? or will the pads just slot back in no bother?

In the past I have just used a large screwdriver to gently push the pads back, small amount of copper grease on the backs of the pads, everything else just gets a quick clean.

Just check your reservoir does not overflow when you push the pistons back!

sound cheers mate, iv got something weird on my reservoir, its like a plastic covering once you take the cap off, buggered if I know what it is tbh, first time ive had a car with anything like that.

At a guess, a float with a magnet in it, so you get a warning light when your fluid gets low?
