North Coast 500?

As part of a holiday we're planning for June I see there's now the above route being promoted.
Basically a drive around the coast starting and finishing in Inverness.
We're spending the first week near Doune to go to the Hillclimb 20/21st then have another week to fill.
So anyone have any comments as to whether it's worth it or is it a Tourist Office dream?
Also any recommended places to stay?
