We woke this morning to find our locked family car had been opened and some items stolen.

Weirdly, easy grab / value items like sunglasses were left behind. Not sure if they were disturbed. Even more strange, we found our neighbours wallet complete with credit card etc were in our glove compartment.

On checking with neighbours, at least 6 cars were accessesed. No damage to locks, no broken glass, no forced entry.

I’ve read about instances of code grabbing but until now assumed this was manufacturer specific. The cars targetted in our area ranged from Ford to Porsche, including Jaguar and BMW.

Is really where car theft is at right now?

Also interested to understand if this is prominent in specific areas.

Do you check your car is locked as you walk away? Its trivial to make a signal jammer to block the locking signal for the remote.
