Does anyone know of an alarm specialist in Dundee/Angus area. I have a Cobra alarm fitted and I can't stop the siren. Battery reset etc. not helped.

Was it raining? I had major issues with mine and spoke to a guy in your area (who's details i'll dig out for you) but he said the most common issue was the bonnet sensor had likely corroded and water would have been getting on it and making the siren go off, as we know water and electronics don't mix well!

He advised i just unplug the bonnet sensor and i've not had an issue since.

The website is AWFUL but my mate has his car alarm installed by them and they are legit, give them a call.

Thanks, I'll have a check over today, and see what I can find. Probably end up giving them a call though.

No problem, i assume it's an aftermarket alarm? The aftermarket alarm trade is a dying skill IMO, no where near the same amount of companies do it now compared to what was around 5-10+ years ago.

Yes, it's a Cobra add on alarm, and a track 5 immobiliser. The odd thing is the immobiliser works, and I can start the car, but I can't reset the siren.

The Cobra siren units themselves are known to fail with water ingress etc. and go off at random or constantly. So another thing to try is just unplug the siren, the alarm should still work normally (albeit silently!).

Thanks all. I spoke to the alarm people, helpful over the phone. Did a few checks. The alarm is arming disarming ok, but the siren will not cancel. It does indeed look like it is the culprit. Coincidentally the car was out it heavy rain a couple of days previously. I just need to find it and see if it can be disconnected.

Replacement parts are quite reasonable through ebay / Amazon i've found in the past so if it requires them you should be fine.

Digging up an old thread here as I was searching for Cobra Alarms + Aberdeen smile

My car was left out in last weeks torrential rain (ironically it was only out in the wet due to having it's MOT done!!!!!) but then I've had an issue with the Cobra Alarm system. It's emitting a loud constant hearing aid type sound from near to the, or could be the cobra module behind the dash. Someone mentioned disconnecting the Siren module could be causing the problems.

If I do, will the siren start to sound if it was removed (ie by virtue it has a battery in it) ? I wanted to remove it to see if it cures the electronic hearing aid sound. And if it did I could then buy a replacement or check the batteries in it.

I'll also give the chaps mentioned above a call on Monday I think.
