Ahoy all

Me and the missus are trying to find a holiday cottage for a week away sometime in March. We initially found a couple of places after searching through lots of different rental websites but sadly they don't have the right dates.

So, i'm wondering if anyone has first hand experience of any cottages on the west coast of scotland, preferably very close to a Loch (I enjoy kayaking) and with a few features we want.

Open fire
Secluded
Good scenery, preferably near water
Available for a week
All mod cons but not looking like an Ikea showhouse
Big comfy couch and a telly as we are both film buffs
A good kitchen as we both enjoy cooking

I'm not after any cottage rental websites, just any possible ones which meet the criteria as much as possible.

Cheers

Dave!

I know you are not looking for rental websites but I thought I would bung this one down. Pick the date and place you want to stay and it will give you a list. www.mackays-self-catering.co.uk

Little hint. If you see something you like try doing a search for rental cottages in that aera you are going for as chances are they might also have their own website. (like me) That way you might get is a bit cheaper as the agencies like to take a healthy cut of the pennies.

I stayed there last year. Fulfils all your criteria apart from the open fire and non ikea. 20 paces out of the back door and you'd be knee deep in Loch Long.

/www.rowancottage.co.uk/ this cottage is gorgeous and the Applecross peninsula is surely one of the very best places in the world (ok so I am biased!).

I stay here every year in October. Front Garden is right on Loch Carron (with access to the water) and Applecross is a short drive away! All mod cons, wood burner in the living room. Lots of space for all your friends too and it is available in March. Some good local pubs too.
