Anyone been to The Ceildih Place in Ullapool in the last couple of years? Me and the other half are looking at heading North for a weekend shortly and I remember hearing good things about this place over the years. Only problem, she found some pretty cr4ppy reviews on the web so now doesn't really fancy it.

So, has it gone downhill? Or is it just a case of the happy customers not going to the bother of posting on the web. Must admit I suspect the latter...

Cheers

I organised an afternoon tea there when I had a drive out in September. The scones and cakes were immense!

It certainly looks nice but I never saw the rooms. The staff were friendly and a couple of them were very attractive too......

Wow that does surprise me, I have been using the Ceilidh Place off and on since the early 80's. I have always rated it as one of the best places to stay, in saying that I admit to not going there recently so... But the Urquhart girls still own it and I would be surprised if they would let their normal high standard drop.

Well, we went for a West Coast jaunt last weekend and really lucked out with the weather. Stayed over in Ullapool in the Ceilidh Place as planned and can confirm that it is just as good as I remembered.

I reckon the online reviews that slated it were probably from people who were used to staying in big faceless (charmless) chain hotels. It's more like staying at an upmarket B&B than your normal hotel albeit with a great bar downstairs.

Would be happy to go back again (as long as they can guarantee the weather next time too wink )

Thats great, I have such great memories of that place, I would hate to think it had become mundane!
