Mark1 son driving me down to PH drinks, going along Queensferry Road, bus stopping ahead so he indicates and pulls into the outside (overtaking) lane to find that the Cock in the black BMW who was cruising in the outside lane, had accelerated like f***k to try and block us off. Then tries to justify it at the traffic lights by saying it was his lane!....We should have known of course, it's well known that the overtaking lane is exclusively for BMW'srolleyes

Rant oversmile

Its amazing how road users treat BWM's sometimes - and rightly so as theres a lot of cock jockeys drving them - but when I went from the 3 to the Mondeo, suddenly folk started letting me out at junctions again biggrin

Why! There is a chap on my commute who has done this too me a few times, rage the first time, then why f**king bother jestures the next half dozen times since. I see him do it regularly

Have to say generally people drive a bit more stupid since moving recently from an A4/A6 avant to an E61. Or rather the marque attracts the ned element to the back of the car as if there is a mystical parking space which is devoid of the laws of physics... jesus i have just turned middle aged over night?

Agreed about the waiters they, for the most part do try there best.
Ok lets put this in perspective, I have owned BMW's but this Cock, middle aged, overweight, middle management tt in his black 5 series, who obviously thinks he outranks everyone on the road, just gives credence to the the cartoon steriotype of BMW drivers on the PH forums, even to the point of arguing that the overtaking lane was 'his lane' FFS!
Apologies to regular PH BMW owners, except of course if your the Cock in question, in which case, I suggest that you, A, go on a diet, B, change your car, and C dissapear up your own arse!

I think there are people who might hold back for any other car but they see a BMW so they take their chance to stuff it to a BMW driver, secure in the belief that, even if something does go awry, chances are the BMW driver will be blamed by default.

not just bmw drivers but all in general, came back from friends up the m6,the amount of people hogging the middle lane was a pain, also 1 tt in a new civic stopped in the outside lane at 66.9 mph for 15 miles, i followed in the 1st and 2nd lanes, about 5 cars nearly pushed him along, funny as fk.

When I drove up from Exeter 2 weeks ago I found the lane discipline quite good down South. Most people would pull back into the left hand lane once they performed their overtaking. (maybe they heard me coming in the Tuscanboxedin)

Where as you tend to find on the Edinburgh bypass nobody drives in the "slow" lane so you have a huge line of cars in the fast lane and nobody in the inside lane.

Sadly true on most 2 lane motorways, most of which appear to be in Scotland, I wonder why?

Aye, on a 3 lane motorway, folk sit in the middle lane oblivous to anything except those "idiots" that pull out in front of them at slip roads.

On a 2 lane, same ethos, only ever bothered about what's coming in from the left.

I think half of it is because people are never taught how to let someone in on a motorway they sit 1 lane out trying to avoid problems, in the process being a huge problem.

I hate people undertaking though, even if the person infront is being a useless bd, there's no excuse for it, plain dangerous.

As well as poor lane discipline, another pet peeve of mine is inconsiderate road positioning.

Seems to happen a lot on nsl single carriageways, where there's two or more cars in front. Fair enough - not everyone is up for overtaking, but when cars with no intention of overtaking bunch themselves up, leaving no gap, thus making it dangerous or impossible for cars behind to overtake.

The exception being of course the part time bus lanes, i.e. 8 to 9.30 and 4.0 to 6.30 that abound in Edinburgh, except no one understands them so stays in the non green lane, even though the inside lane is the proper lane outside those hours. Because there is a solid line between them undertaking is perfectly acceptable.

Aye but if it's a solid line you're not undertaking as such cause you shouldn't be changing lanes, is that right?

It's just 2 seperate roads?

It's called filtering but ONLY in queuing traffic with a LOW speed differential.

couldn't agree with you more, absolute nightmare on roads around me.
