The idea of a low content thread seems to work well on other forums, so I thought it might be worthwhile starting one here. Basically it's for general chat and banter that isn't worth starting a new thread for.

Today the traffic cops are out in force over Loch Lomond area, and are hiding in the bushes at Tarbet, in the 30 zone. They're there quite regularly, so just be careful.

Thanks for the heads up - I'll probably be heading up that way for a run or two later in the week once all the holiday drivers are away.

I don't mind the cops in that spot at Tarbet (a few hundred yards after the left turn at the hotel?) - they also pull in cars that have been spotted by unmarked units for a 'talking to' (more for driver behaviour rather than outright speed I believe).

It's a residential area, and you're only dropping to 30 for about a minute, so it's only good manners not to upset the villagers - same goes for Arrochar. There's plenty of open roads nearby for quality hooning, so no need for giving Police a reason to put traps there - haven't ever seen a hidden trap on a clear road before, so some credit to Strathclyde Police for allowing us to have some fun!

Yep, I agree Taffer. Traffic cops over that way seem quite decent and worldly wise, and seem to be sending out the message of being sensible in the NSLs, and stick to the limits in the 30 and 40 zones.

It's never worth going over the limit in the built up areas over there. I've seen them setup in a few places there, but like you say, never once seen a scamera van or hidden trap in the NSL areas.

Worried about the clutch on the Vette, couple of times over the past few days the release bearing/clutch made this horrendous noise and now I think the pedal feels different. Only 5k since new but still I worry!

My noble is too fast for public roads, any idea's what would still be an interesting daily drive and still be capable of towing a trailer laden with a radical of some sort??? smile

Sounds like you're in a similar boat to me. I found that while the M5 looks great on paper (and would ordinarily be my choice of its class), all the ones for sale seem a bit rubbish - either tired and down on power, or looking really tatty inside and out.
Unless a really good one comes up (and expect even a good one to drink 1L of oil every 1k), then my money's going on an XJR or an E55.

I got roasted by an Audi RS4 over the weekend getmecoat

Bloody hell those cars are quick i thought. Got home, checked the stats in one of my many collections of Autocar and found out that they have a 420bhp V8??

If i had known that then i would not have even bothered.

Do it! I'm between 6'4" and 6'5" and fitted fine in a VX which I ran as an only car for a year...

Agreed. A sound bunch although they were missing in action yesterday. Two hours to get from Loch Fyne to Dumbarton rolleyes

Just passed what looked like a nasty accident just past the north side of the Erskine bridge, before Dumbarton (NSL dual carriageway). Lots of emergency vehicles in attendance. Lets hope it wasn't as bad as it looked!

Maybe not interesting but different if you don't need all the space of an estate etc...

Audi A5

...3.0 TDi quick if a bit snoozeville but a comfy and stylish place to tow up to 2 tonnes.
