Can anybody recommend a great Ceilidh band for a scottish wedding? Some friends of mine went to see a prospective band this week for there wedding and were not that impressed with the performance and are now looking for a band that has that all important stage presence and can bring the house down!

Any solid recommentations greatly received, cheers.

I'd happily recommend this group - http://www.canongatecadjers.com/

This group played at my wedding and they were very good. They can supply a DJ for afterwards too if you like. They were happy to travel to Fife from Edinburgh but I don't know how much further they would travel...

I didn't see them play before I booked them but they have links on their website and one shows them performing at T in the Park. That was good enough for me!

Good luck!

The Flying Pieman.

Played at my 40th a couple (ahem!) years ago.

Good at calling and getting people involved.

Also introduce some less known dances which, shall we say, levels the field for those who have a Gay Gordon limit.

Cheers,

My pal Dave's band Last Tram.
They did a charity do for my friends in Killin last year, and went down a storm smile

I'm mates with one of their (sometimes) ex-members. Although they're based in Lochwinnoch (10 miles west of Paisley) they might travel depending on where you are: they played at our wedding in Dunkeld in 2006. They're quite lively, having had a past history of playing pubs gigs but have progressed onto weddings, so do a cracking ceilidh.

Some samples on their website too.

Thanks for your recommentations! Will pass the lot on. The wedding will be next May and will be held in Blair Atholl(Blair Castle).

Thanks again.
