Morons at motorshows!!

Just back form Kncokhill today being part of the Supercar stand. Had the QV with me and in general had a lovley day. My general experience of these shows is that people are polite courteous and respectful of other people property and cars!
THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS! Was told that whilst I was away from my car that a guy opens the door and sits in my car and then walked away leavng the door open! People about there assumed he must be known to me and didnt speak to him but then closed the door! Who are these f
k WITS who think they can just open any car and sit in it as there own??? It seems to be an increasingly common problem at shows, of either people doing this or sitting or lying on top of cars for photos! Do they expect to come home and find people sitting on their sofa watching their TV? The fk they do! Sorry for language but still irrate about this!
People in general are too polite to challenge strangers who appear to be acting as if they own cars, but people like this should be getting charged or at least ejected from shows!
I think if you have old cars you should show them and let others appreciate them, but experiences like this are putting me and others off the idea!
Any other suggestions? Don't want pithy comments like 'lock your cars', as frankly unless it is a dealer stand with salemen who would think of just trying cars in the public car park just 'because I have always fancied one'!

Cheeky fker! Some people have no respect for others property, wish i had seen that, i would have shut his head in said door!
Please dont let this put you off attending meets and such with your lovley car paul, it just wouldnt be fair on the decent folks that still attend such things

no, this year was an open display so everyone could walk up to cars. This was a 30y/o guy not a wee kid! Next year they are going to put behind barriers again, but I think that is less involving for people.
I am trying to get a large car show off the ground in Scotland , possibly in Glasgow or Stirling along same idea as Bristol or Horsham. That is close off streets and have open access. Klvingrove is my prefered location just now. Just makes it difficult to sell the idea to any car owner if this type of things happens. I know it is difficult to police properly, but thankfully there were other Lambo guys about. It was perhaps fortunate that I didnt catch the guy! Caught a 16y/o in Bristol doing the same and gave him a good telling off, and he apologised!

Seems to be a common thing. My dad regularly shows his classic car and he has regular problems with people who assume that as the car is on show, they can just open the door and get in. Sometimes right in front of my dad. 
They then look perplexed when he tells them in no uncertain terms to get out of the car.
Generally 99% of people ask if they can sit in the car which he is very happy to oblige, just common courtesy which is sadly lacking from some complete sts

That's crazy! I've never seen anything like that, but I have shouted at someone for putting their hands all over a nice car parked on the street before, who obviously was just any old person. They wouldn't like it if someone just walked into their house, so show the same respect. Plus most owners are decent people who let you in if you talk to them. I think its a shame that a few idiots will spoil things for the many. We were up on Saturday on the SIDC stand. I certainly enjoy being able to walk around your cars and have a good look at them rather than them being behind barriers. I know you said don't mention locking doors but unless i am standing next to my car whilst it is on the club stand i would never leave my doors unlocked. I mean you certainly wouldn't leave a car parked in a street or car park unlocked so why do it at knockhill. I have seen a few show cars in the past with a notice on the dash board asking for people not to touch the car.

Less involving for the public but hey ho, thats tough st really, look what happens. Im surprised there werent any as I was meant to be going and I wouldnt have left it without barriers up, no way siree.
Anyway, dont dwell on it, these kids just got excited and who are they really to know what their doing, there young and daft, parents faults imo.

Paul i know exactly what you mean,
i was standing having a chat with some folk when i saw 2 boys start playing with the blue diablo's door, opening it, closing it, opening it and pushing it up high enough it looked like it was going to snap,
luckily Rod came over, shut the door and locked it for the owner (or owner was near and locked it)
Also saw a few kids with jackets around their waists and could hear their zips hitting the paint (asked a few to stand further back or take their jacket of their waste)
I have to say, it was nice being able to walk between them, but i think behind a barrier might have been a better idea.

Murci and that Diablo are both his 
I wasnt too bothered - dont think anyone would have maliciously damaged any of the cars, lots of fingerprints in the dirt on my car though....
Sorry to hear about all the problems. I wouldn't dream of trying the doors on any off the cars. Must admit my first thought was "great no barriers this year", a real plus when my son is with me as he can see properly.
I make sure that bags, zips etc are well out the way and the Wee Man knows strictly no touching.
Shame not everbody can follow a few simple rules and show respect.

It was maybe 30mins before you all went out on track, I saw some kid sitting in it and thought it was odd. He then got out and another jumped in and shut the door then his mate had a go.i had the white countach.

Display cars on the manufacturers stands are all open for people to jump into, kids obviously dont know the difference! I wouldnt leave my car open anywhere and its no supercar!
