MOT question

This sounds like a stupid question but if my car has 3 months MOT left on it and I go and get it tested now and it fails, is my original MOT still valid for the remaining 3 months or is it invalidated because of the new test. I only ask because I'm thinking of trading the car in but some of the dealers would prefer a longer ticket.

Think you be on dodgy ground as you'd be knowingly driving an unroadworthy vehicle should you choose to ignore the new report.
