I'm looking to put together some cars for a feature in Practical Performance Car magazine. Before I start pulling strings (or more to the point getting the Ed to pull strings) with dealers, I thought I'd see if there was some owner interest.

I'm looking for:
E39 M5
E55 AMG
Audi S8
(Jag XJR already sorted)

I think we're going to use South Queensferry as the main base for the photo shoot, and it's going to happen in the next couple of weeks (dates flexible at this stage).

Obviously, participants will get lots of professional photos of their cars, the pleasure of seeing their P&J on the cover of a mag, and I expect we can rustle up some bacon sarnies on expenses.

Any help most gratefully recieved.

Cheers

N

So whats wrong with the Alfa 166 then? biggrin

P.S. its a rhetorical question I'm well aware of all the problems the 166 suffers from!

An S-Class would do the job, but a 2003 makes it the 500+bhp one IIRC - we need the earlier 380-ish bhp spec E or S-class. Thanks for the offer though.

Cheers for the offer Foz, but the RS6 isn't really a fair comparison with the others (too new, too pricey, too powerful) - no doubt I'll be tapping you for feature cars at some point in the future, though!

It matches the owner, slightly scruffy yes, but very quick and a huge capacity for high octane fuelbiggrin

I can make available a very mint and original '99 Audi S8(my Dad's!) if that helps. I live about 30 miles from Edinburgh.

Ohhh...now we're getting somewhere.

Steve - that's exactly the S8 we're looking for (and I was expecting that would be the hardest to track down).

Fluff - The Alpina could be a serious go-er. In many ways it's a better fit with the nature of the other cars than the M5 is.

I'll drop you both PMs later in the day once I've spoken to the photographer and the ed about dates.

Muchos, muchos gracias...

I know you already have a Jag, but how about a nice S Type R:

We did consider the S-Type, especially now that prices have dipped below the £10k mark, but really it belongs in the class with the next generation cars - i.e. the post-02 500bhp E55s, the V10 M5 etc.

Thanks for the offer though - could perhaps use it in the future for a fast Jags feature...

Haven't quite figured the details yet, but we'll probably meet on that main car park section. If the weather's nice, and the track's not too muddy, we might bag shome shots on the quay thing down by the boathouse.

TBH - we'll probably end up doing the static shots over at North Queensferry on the quay, or in the car park on the top of the hill on the other side of the motorway (some tourist attraction place, forgotten what it's called).

Il keep any eye out. The Dakota hotel would be quite good for a back drop, as its practicaly all black.

Here's the S8 - I compete at National Concours level with my own cars, so it's a pretty darned good example! Let me know when and where the shoot is going to be.
Cheers

Keep me updated on progress, I'm only along the road, so could pop along - not often mag cover shoots happen at SQ within my knowledge!
