Joined M8 Eastbound at Glasgow Royal to be told of "slow traffic for 4 miles".
Finally got to the source of this - a van sitting on the grass, not the hard shoulder, between the Fort and Baillieston with a camera on a tripod behind it. Once passed, the traffic sped up again although further along two Police cars had pulled two cars.

Anyone any idea what this was? If it was ANPR was it worth the 4 miles of queues? Surely ANPR would be more appropriate on one of the overbridges rather than on the actual motorway? There were no markings on the van that I could see though there may have been one of the small "Motorway Maintenance" stickers.

I have always thought the overbridge at Eurocentral was purpose built for speeding / ANPR activity. Quick slip roads on and plenty of slip roads off to perform u-turns to return to the bridge after each capture!

According to the radio travel updates tail-backs were due to a broken down bus.

Probably towed away then! Can take a very long time for traffic to recover from the slow-driving rubber-neckers.

there was a broken down bus just after the Royal Infirmary meaning that the police had to close the outside lane. I passed there at 6:15pm, thankfully before all of the traffic had tailed back.
