Good driving routes near Peebles?
Discussion
I'm off up to Scotland in early August on a Mountain Biking holiday, and now I've worked out how to get a bike in a Boxster I will be taking the car as I've heard good things about the roads near where I'm going - which is Peebles. Does anyone have any recommended routes, or better still .itn files that they would be able to share with me?
Thanks in advance.

Lots of great roads round that way. A good circular route. Peebles-Innerleithen-Traquair-St Marys Loch and Gray Mares Tail. Then either all the way down to Moffat and back up the A701 to Leadburn and back to Peebles. Or slighly shorter cut off after the Gray mares Tail and up over past the Megget and Talla resevoirs. Takes you on to the A701 , just further up.
As Scofox has said, plenty of good driving roads in and around Peebles.
Agree with the route mentioned - well worth it but just watch for the mobile speed camera at the bottom of the Cardrona straight (between Peebles and Innerleithen, just opp. the ghastly looking and incongruously placed Cardrona hotel)
Also try the B709 heading North from Innerleithen - also known locally as the Granites. Fantastic, twisty road that's 15 miles from Innerleithen to the A7. Return via the A7 and B709 from Heriot. Just watchout for sheep and pheasants towards the Inn. end !!
And the B709 south from Inn. to Mountbenger. Straight over X roads to Tushielaw, B7009 to Selkirk via Ettrickbridge (good pub - X Keys)Return via the Yarrow valley - A708, B709 and B7062 to Peebles.
There's another good road from Peebles heading south to the Manor valley - very narrow and single track in places. Wonderfully remote at the road end.
And if you exhaust the roads in Peeblesshire head further west to Berwickshirewhere you'll also find some excellent and deserted roads.
Spoilt for choice really - God's country !!

There are no bad roads around peebles, until you hit Edinburgh.
About 6 miles north of Peebles on the Edinburgh Road there is a village called Eddleston, (with the very nice Horseshoe Inn) Turn left opposite the Horseshoe and follow that road over to Lyne Station its quite narrow and quite twisty in places with one or two pleasant stops on the way.
Have fun at Innerleithen

Watch out for the carpark at Inners' some bloddy big potholes in places.
Are you using the uplift? - http://regonline.activeeurope.com/builder/site/Def...
It's quite a good climb up but the downhill is more fun when you get to do it 8 or 9 times in a day
ETA The uplift at Ae is also quite good - run by Tally as well - and there's a new trail gone in recently as well. It's easy enough to get across to from Inners.
Bit further away but I also found Laggan, just North of Fort William, to be good fun as well. They've also opened the red run at Fort Bill and that's reported to be a 8-10 minute run
There's also a new route at Glen Shee/Cairngorms but I've no idea how good it is though I did pass it the other day and it looked quite good fun in a Glentress jumpy kind of way.
Have fun - We really have got some cracking mountain biking trails up here.
