These cars are parked all over west Edinburgh with big handwritten for sale signs plastered all over them, sometimes as many as 10 all with the same phone number. I thought it was against the law for a motor trader to do this, but the BiB seem to do nothing about it.
Comments please.

I've noticed this too - Carrick Knowe/Corstorphine and spreading.

I have no idea about the legal position, but something about what you're saying rings true.

I'm not a big fan of the cooncil (who is?) but it might be worth a call to their consumer & environmental services people, their environmental wardens seem to have quite wide ranging powers.

Phone them up and arrange to meet at the car and don't show.
It'll soon discourage em.

G,

Contact the council and enquire if he has the relevant paperwork (Second-hand dealer's licence).

If they are no help, then HM Revenue and Customs would be very keen to have a word.

Thanks guys, I would have thought the polis would have done these things. Trouble is he is picking places where either parking is at a premium, i.e. outside the doctors surgery or its a visible distraction, i.e. on Glasgow Road, where there was yet another horrific accident today with a car pulling out (old escort) from the David Lloyd centre and being T boned (Audi A8) estate.

I'm away next week but this guy is getting on my T*ts so I may do something about it when I'm back.

Are they all taxed? scratchchin

If they're all parked on the street then they must have to be insured, non?

not applicable

If the cars are taxed, insured, MOT'd and not causing an obstruction, not a Police matter. Could try City of Edinburgh Council to check he is licenced to sell second hand cars.

Was working down your way last week and noticed a few of them all with similar big signs in the windows. Just print off some yellow 'POLICE AWARE' A4 stickers and stick them to the cars. Or post up the number so we can all give him a call with some silly questions.

Yup have spotted these cars as well. Another favourite spot is the roundabout at the Lothianburn junction as you head up to Hillend.

even if he had a traders licence that traders licence would specify a location the cars must be sold from, the only traders licence relating to our street is the jaguar garage.

The favourite place of ALL time must be at 3 spaces at the cross roads before The Fort.... ALWAYS a different car up for sale on the left hand side with the same number written on it.
