Saw one on the back of a trailer when I was heading out that way on Sunday evening. The front end was partly covered, but you could still tell it was a mess frown

I've been on Alford a few times, there is no run off at all, well except wet grass. In my view it's just not worth the risk, not as if it's a challenging or an exciting track.

Yeah we arrived just after it had happened. I believe it wasn't the owner who was behind the wheel at the time though.

Real shame for the owner - mighty mess of the car. frown I was told he had just got it back after a costly engine rebuild too. I have a couple of pics but not really keen on posting them up to be honest.

I had lined up a few shots of my mate's evo for the afternoon too - put me right off!

I was sat with a group of friends at the "east" end of the oval when the TVR, apparently being driven by the passenger and not the owner, left the tarmac and just drove straight at us. I hurriedly scampered out of my £2 Tesco camp chair to see one of the railway sleepers in the barrier fly off and strike a young lady knocking her to the ground - thankfully she wasn't seriously injured but it could have been a lot worse. No braking, evasive action or anything - just the abuse they gave each other after the incident with not a care in the world for the people they nearly wiped out.

Been to Alford many time and seen the odd bump, off and scrape but nothing like this before.

After it was all rebuilt - can see the marks in the grass:

What a bizarre line to have taken, doesn't look like he even attempted to turn in.

Nasty! Does the owner know you have posted the pics up? Number plate on show etc?

never a good thing to see, not sure if that Tuscan was at our mini club day last month, if it was it didnt go on the track then.

We had a cupra at the mini day go off into the barrier across from the grandstand, made a bit of a mess of the front of the car but not as bad as that.

Im thinking that Alford isnt really suited to some of the more high powered cars now, its fine for us minis but with only grass run offs there isnt much room for error.

Oh im also surprised theres none of the orange fencing next to the barriers? we always stick some along there to stop folk sitting on the railway sleeper barriers.

Yeah might be appropriate to at least remove the number plates if not the pictures altogether.

I'm assuming the car didn't have track insurance, but what the owner tells his insurance company is between him and them. I know what would be crossing my mind if it were my uninsured 25k loss... wink

We've been told by the SIDC that the owner gave "incorrect" details on his entry form to the track day which I'm guessing means that they can't contact him currently.

Methinks Aberdeen Journals have paid a couple of hundred toward the repair bill.
