Been a slow start to my trackday season, and haven't been up the KH yet this year. I notice their website now says theres a 105db noise limit, but various comments on the TrackScotland site suggest its fine as long as you don't take the pi$$.

Last time the Cerbera was tested it was hitting c. 108db @ 4k rpm - am I likely to have a problem? (I have trackday silencers, but they're a swine to fit without a ramp, and they effectively cut my redline from 8k to 7.25k)

Nefarious,

I never had any issues with my car when I had my Blitz exhaust on and it was closer to 112dB. As you say, don't take the pi55 and you'll be fine. The Greer Sport GTR was at the last trackday I attended and it's very loud. Didn't seem to be any concern from the pitlane. I've also never even seen a car tested there before. Maybe some more experienced people can comment on the KH noise regs but in my experience there are none.

Cheers

James

as far as I'm aware there isn't any, only time we've been tested is at smrc were it is 105db at 3/4 throttle static.

That has been on the website for years, it is not enforced.

I've been to a fair few trackdays at KH and never experienced anyone being pulled up for excessive noise. I think the noise limit is more readily enforced at tracks closer to residential areas. KH is predominantly rural for miles around. As previously noted, the 105db limit has been on the website for as long as I can remember, I think it's just there so that they are seen to be doing something (in the loosest possible terms) about noise pollution.

I'm having to contend with a strictly enforced 106dB limit for TOTB in a couple of weeks. Need to get bung for exhaust manufactured...

I've been told that if the wind is blowing the right way cars at Knockhill can be easily heard in Dunfermline.

Probably but i can hear motorbike racing at east fortune -if the wind is south east, big deal. who are these t**ts that complain-they need to get a life. personally i would remove them to the middle of Niddrie,on a sat night. By the way Demon tweeks have a device -jetex decibel insert-sounds rude, these cost about £8 each-shove them up your trumpet on track day, when you leave -remove . have not tested though

This is good news - I'm taking the Stratos up in September if I get the rebuild finished in time and it clocked in at 109 last time I checked

Yeh but thats the way it should be. They should allow it for certain days throughout the year so that people can have some fun. I wouldnt have been allowed to take the Cobra on and that was deafeningly and stupidly great fun without the baffles in, just the way it should be.

Hold on boys, why dont we put a noise limit in Monaco and stop the F1????

Muppets, so they are. They should ban themselves from stopping the racing for 3 hour lunches, thats what they should do.

More annoying is when fold move into an area where they know there's been a race track for years and then petition for a cap on noise levels!!! furious

We had that at BlairAdam Rifle range(you can see it from the M90 Between the Knockhill turn off and Kinross)
Been a range there for over 120 years, a couple move into a house between the range and the motorway and then complain about noise pollution.
The officials casme out to check and with us using a .243 as a sample the official stood outside the house and radio'd to us to fire a round. A round was put up the range and the radio went again asking us to put a round up the range, another was fired and he radio'd a short time later saying 'in your own time'! We told him that 2 rounds had been put up the range, he told us that they didnt register because of the motorway noise!

Unfortunately because heavier rounds were also the norm and the householders continued complaints we were forced to put up noise barriers and shoot through insulated tubes! mad

you can hear the noise from oakley, dundermline basically a 10 mile radius but you can hear the motorway as well. it is a race track after all and it brings so much to the local areas, the moaners should get trackside and enjoy it as Derek and team have created a great facility

3 hour lunchbreaks?????? since when??? at smrc or any other meeting if we get 45 minutes we are doing well, that includes time to and from post so usually it means get to bothy, grab food, eat sharpish, quick fag and pee and catch a lift back to post on the flatbed lol do i mind do i buggery, as long as the drivers give it 100% it is worth the long days, the rain etc
