Hmm, how about a Scottish American car day
Discussion
My wee brother just bought a red C4 corvette, will tell him to get on here, he fancies getting along to some meets with his new beastie.
I had a shot last week, first time driving a left hooker, it isn't that bad in fact and for an 18yr old motor it's still in good nick and takes off when planting the foot, its been rolling roaded at 305bhp. I'd prefer a Z06 though

Sounds like a damn good idea G, although if anyone mentions line dancing or I see a confederate flag i'm offski!! yeee and indeed haaaa
I believe Avril is already giving line dancing lessons!
Seriously, I have been thinking of locations, Perthshire would be pretty central for all, just wondering how many cars could be expected since that obviously has a big bearing on the venue. all ideas welcome

Get a quiet, non mag day at Crail and arrange it as a meet? Wouldn't be exclusively 'merican cars but there's loads of room to have evryone parked together.
Then you obviously have the choice to run up the quarter or park up and chat or do both.
Exactly what i was thinking and u can get the grass bit next to the track coned off and have the American stuff on there on display, Then you obviously have the choice to run up the quarter or park up and chat or do both.
But need to see what G thinks his idea

Actually I was thinking about Edzel, being an old American Air Base, it has the advantage of being pretty central and I believe that some motorsports events used to be run there. Other than that I know nothing about the place, again I look to the font of PH knowledge for info.

Oh yes please....I'd go in a secondG

Not far from me that. There are a few fairly large old buildings, plus the golf course with the hotel. If you need it run past give me a shout and I will nip over, remember just through Edzel you have the Cairn O mount road, belter !
Alan would you recce it out for me in the first instance, if it looks Ok then I can come up and put some more flesh on the bones, as it were.G

Forgot about Edzel, is it still going?
I don't think that it is still going. There haven't been any races there in quite a few years, all to do with the damn NIMBYS, saying it was too loud. Which is a shame as there used to be some good meets there, and it wasnt too far from my house. Although I think that you might be able to get in touch with the owners and see about a meet. Not sure if they would let you run 1/4 miles though.
The base isnt't actually in Edzell its about 2 miles out.
You might be able to use the muir for your meet which is in Edzell itself, but you would have to clear it with the EVIS (Edzell Village Improvement Society).
There is a large car park/ picnic area at the far end, which would be good for parking. I get home Tuesday so can have a drive by, depends on what you/attendees want , if it's a show and drive for smallish numbers it would be fine. Motorsport angle I don't know. It's also a quietish relatively well off place, don't know how they would take to thousands of American cubic inches burbbling along the main street on a Sunday morning
