While driving past Dunkeld this morning on the A9 I noticed a silver X5 and a 5 series BMW in a layby both with the yellow Police Training notices in the rear window.
The uniformed drivers were swapping places in the 5 series as I passed.
10 mins later between Ballinluig and Pitlochry there are roadworks, I pulled into the inside lane of the dual carriageway at the 400 yard board before the cones and noticed a silver BMW flying up the fast lane. The road was very busy we were all travelling about 50mph with no gaps between us, It cut into the queue of traffic at the very last cone there was no chance he would have been able to stop causing everybody to brake sharply nearly causing an accident!
After all the publicity about previous accidents you would think they would be a bit more careful on a packed road that is dangerous at the best of times.

If they came across a situation where poor driving had led to a bottleneck in traffic whilst on a call they would surely be expected to bypass as much of it as possible as quickly as possible (safely of course).

Did they have blues on?
Did they or anyone else need to take emergency or evasive action?

I have noticed a few occasions lately where police driving has been below par to very poor.
Much more so in the last 18 months than ever before.

I understand they have to train for all situations but from where I was sitting it looking like a pretty ropey manouver.
They didnt have the blues on as it was totally unmarked, the cars on front of me had to brake quite sharply I had left a reasonable space on front of me so only lightly braked.

I remember seeomg a couple of years ago the police training on the M8. Think the car being chased was a Mondeo (unmarked) and being chased by marked cars of some sort.

I know it was training as I saw them 4 times at various points of the M8 that day!

The thought did occur to me though that they may come across a truck driver or like, who might want to help the police by forcing the Mondeo off the road thinking he was doing them a favour!
