It really is ashame that they don't run car trackdays. Anyone know why this is?

Last car trackday there was run by Javelin, stopped after nimby's complained about the noise. I was told the same nimby's, who recently moved to the area, also complained about the railway which has only been there for 150 years.

Seriously though, how can car track days be too noisy, yet it's a used as an airfield and runs bike days?

IIRC there's a limit on the number of days they can use the airfield for any noisy purpose, and car trackdays are further down the list of priorities than other activites. Or at least I'm sure that's what I heard...

Complete PITA.

I did a sprint there last year and loved it, probably one of my favorite circuits from the year. We didn't get there this year since lothian car club made a loss the year before. I think it an expensive place to hire due to the limited days a year. Perhaps you can cram more bike's on than cars to make your money back.
Had a couple of nasty bumps but a real fast fun track, with some proper ball's corners. Average speed over two laps was 107mph where knockhill is 82mph, so much faster.
It's a shame, it would be great to have a 2nd proper track in scotland.

And sun to boot, unlike Knockhill, tipping down constantly

The problem was down to the punters Javelin invited - they ran 2 days, the first day a "hot marques" type day - no problem. The 2nd day was for what can only be described as cruisers - who blasted their corsas through the local area on the way to/from the day - this is what caused the complaints and made sure it didn't happen again. Shame as it was a good circuit and Scotland badly needs some alternative to knockhill. Nothing against Knockhill, just would like a change.

I went to the hot marques one, which was well organised other than driving through snow to get there (but not Javelins fault!) - good mix of cars, didn't seem too OTT with noise, but I agree the second contingent were rip-ing through the local roads which is bad for all true enthusiasts. I agree an alternative to knockhill would be welcome, Rt Hon Jackie Stewart tried to develop Ingilston ans a world class car proving facility along with a circuit, raised finance through private investment but the planning veto'd every step, so he pulled out. How short sighted ...........

Has there ever been any more word on the circuit that was proposed by the N.Irish group?
I think it was based in the borders area.
