I've got this recorded on the satellite box, but haven't watched it. What's the general gist? Does Aberdeen get a kicking or is he quite nice about it?

Mainly its just a programme about Aberdeen's layout, Architechture and how the townscape was formed. He also talks about where the influeneces have come from and where the city is going. Quite intersting but Jonathon Meades does seem to drivel on quite a bit.

I've only been watching this for three minutes now and I can't stand the way this guy speaks. It's like he's reciting a never ending awful poem. What is this guy all about? Apologies if i'm missing something here!

Its a historical summary of Aberdeen from early periods, he does in fairness cover the best of Aberdeen. The start on the corned beef tihng i had never heard of until this. I studied Architecture here at RGU and he is passionate bought the right areas imho. In fairness he can be pretty harsh but seems to be fair on Aberdeen.

His voice is pretty dull, some satire at the end.

However as an incommer, all be it 15 years incomer, this is how I see it as a place.

Definitely! I suppose my lack of interest in architecure and art/history make it difficult to keep listening to what he's talking about. I've lived here all my life and have never really taken that much notice of the buildings. I suppose like he says it's easy to take it for granted as there are a lot of nice, different, buildings here that you only notice when you visit somewhere else.

+1

I wonder if it is genius poetry, or literary tripe. It seems to be the latter.

'What a blouse I would look in either...' Pardon? Oddest programme I have watched in a while. Some clever stuff, but hidden amongst a flowing heap of over-worked monologues.
