Found out that these are referred to as Male Unbifurcated Garments or MUGS for short. I get the feeling you would have to be a MUG to wear one of these pleated skirts in the OP's link and think it looks good but a proper tartan kilt with sporran on the other hand is a totally different garment of clothing altogether. You can wear a kilt to almost any function you can think of and the girls will flock round you. :wink: If you turned up wearing one of those utility kilts you would just be laughed at for wearing a skirt.

Needless to say, a swift bit of education followed

Although, to be fair, the pockets look damn useful (mine's Irish, thus no sporran).

I saw a guywearing a cammo 'kilt' - no tartan so a skirt.... in Edinburgh Zoo and it looked crap.
