Any ideas where I could pick up a very very cheap "kilt"? I'm talking sub-£40...

Basically me and my mates are looking for a couple to wear during a mountain-bike race, i.e. they are going to get absolutely trashed/muddied up big time, so we're looking to spend as little as possible. I've got my own kilt plus another ex-hire kilt I wear to the rubgy, but even that's too good to ruin in this way!

Cheapest I could find are around £40, but googling brings up that Gold Brothers in Edinburgh did kilts at £20 in response to Lidl/Aldi selling £25 kilts at the start of last year. Don't seem to be available now though.

Cheers
Ally

Go into edinburgh most of the over the top tourist shops on princes street do 'tourist' kilts for around £30 -£40. They are usually made of cotton not wool so they are a fair bit lighter for traveling in as well.

Thats because they are beach towels not actual kilts that you could wear.

It was Lidl, £25 for a kilt made of synthetic material £50 for a woolen one. I had a good poke about them when we had them in stock and they were pretty decent quality, the woolen ones especially. Theyre not currently in the stores however.

If you dont need it immediately it might be worth giving customer services a call to find out when they'll be back in again on 0870 444 1234.

I had one in my store the other day as a customer had returned it, it sold pretty quick though.

^Cheers, those look ideal for what we need. Don't actually need them until June next year, but we're planning ahead. Not really a bike "race" as such, more a great big piss-up with a bike event that gets (sort of) in the way of the beer. Although there are beer stations out on the course rather than feed stations...

Its probably of no use to you but Thistle Sports in Aberdeen sell cheap kilts. I can't remember exactly how much but its no more than £20 from memory. Perfect for football / staggers etc etc

One of the tat shops opposite Geoffrey Tailor on the Mile regularly advertises them at 25 quid or so. Probably one of the Gold Brothers' places, though.

A good mate of mine bought a cheap one from Ebay earlier this year for his stag do. Surprisingly good for the money!
