a80 speed cameras
Discussion
Does anyone have a chain saw or is very good at Pizza throwing to obscure the lenses!!
Simple money grabbing disregard for anything to do with safety
if safety cameras actually were used to monitor road safety and pick up bad or unsafe driving or even ID all those stolen cars or fake plates and have police stop tams i would support them absolutely. Meantime, I am just going out to the garden to practice pizza throwing!
( in case your wondering, the first recorded case of camera vandalism in glasgow was fixed camera which had a pizza placed over it's lens one sat night)

Lifted from another form by someone who should know
Yes they will be switched on, but really do you want to take the chance despite the postal strike.
They do work and night as they are infrared and during the day they give a nice picture of who is driving.
They dont work with motorbikes as they take the front plate numbers
Dont know if switching lanes works the SCP does not let out all the secrets

Travelled the A80 both directions yesterday. The specs cameras only appeared to be between Moodiesburn and Auchenkilns - nothing visible between Auchenkilns and Haggs. People were still zooming past at 70mph plus - if they were activated they'll be in for a nasty shock, though there were no usual warning signs in place which suggests they were not yet operational.
Why is it that whenever I travel this road there is never anyone working on it - Two and a half years for 10 miles of motorway is surely utterly diabolical. Why don't Transport for Scotland get their fingers out and get people working round the clock so it gets finished earlier?

They need as long a period as possible to raise revenue from the Scameras, sorry Safety Cameras.
Speedy work would mean fewer delays and less money, what's the sense in that?
P.S. Thanks to all those who flashed fellow motorists by 'accident' today in Lennoxtown, in the area of massive road traffic carnage where the revenue raising limit has been moved out to, being policed by 2 of SP's finest wenches, it looked as if they were really practiced with using the speed gun-not!

Quite possible. Budgets may be quite stretched right now with the M74 extension being done at the same time!Speedy work would mean fewer delays and less money, what's the sense in that?

If you are going south from the east the A706 is your friend via forth, carstairs junction, abington, M74 wayyyyyyyyyyyy past all this nonsense.
Except for the mobile van now occasionally parked on the straight out of Forth heading towards the roundabout near Carstairs/Cleghorn.It's marked on the front and sides, but a nice plain shade of Scottish HydroElectric Green on the rear...
